Hi, I’m Jennifer. Welcome to my blog Good Life Detroit!
I’m so happy you’re here, and I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog. I created Good Life Detroit to share my family’s journey transitioning from Army life to civilian life in the greater Detroit area. I also write about positive community stores about the Detroit and metro area.
Passionate About Community
On GLD, I like to share positive and uplifting community stories about Detroit. I believe in Detroit. I believe in a stronger more unified city. Right now, we live in the metro area. We are about 25 minutes outside of the city limits of Detroit. My husband and I have been discussing possibly buying a house in Detroit. Until then, we enjoy exploring the city.
People often ask me how do my family and I like living in Detroit, and I say, “We love it!” I hope by writing about the city, I can show people the many positive aspects of Detroit.
We are always going on an adventure. We love exploring Detroit and the metro area! Travis and I enjoy taking our kids out to community events, festivals, and other cool places. If you live in Detroit, you can find me out exploring with my bunch. I’ll probably have my baby on my back in a Boba (baby carrier) and a camera hanging around my neck.
From Army Life to Civilian Life
In March 2015, my family and I relocated to Metro Detroit, Michigan. My husband Travis served 8.5 years active duty in the U.S. Army. After sustaining an injury during a deployment in Iraq, Travis medically separated from the Army. About four months before his active duty service ended, he accepted a job in the greater Detroit area, and that’s how we are here in the Motor City!
Travis and I have four amazing children whom we adore and love dearly (ages 16, 14, 3, and 1). Family is everything to us and we work very hard to put our children first. I also homeschool my children. (Homeschool blog coming soon!) Life with four children is busy, for sure. There’s never a dull moment, but I wouldn’t change being a mom for the world.
I love connecting with new and old friends, so say hi sometime. Looking forward to hearing from you, and thank you for following our journey! Blessings!
