Hot-air Balloon Competition in Frankenmuth, Michigan

Today I am sharing photographs from my family’s trip to Frankenmuth, Michigan. My family and I attended Frankenmuth’s “Balloons Over Bavarian Inn”– a hot-air balloon competition and festival.

Also simultaneously being held alongside the balloon festival was the Dog Bowl festival. This festival is an annual festival held for dog owners and dog lovers. It showcases dogs competing in competitions such as “Best Costume”, “50-yard Doggie Fun Run”, and “Wiener Dog Races”.

I gotta say, Michigan is a very dog-friendly state. Almost every festival I have attended so far has allowed dogs on the premises. I have never seen such a dog-happy area before. In my hometown, dogs were loved, but not allowed at events. Michigan loves their dogs!

Unfortunately, the day we attended the event, the weather was not very friendly. A thunder storm was rolling in and the pilots were not able to fly the balloons. But I still managed to snap a few shots of the enormous wonders.

I’ve never seen a hot-air balloon in person before, so I was excited to finally have a chance to see one. I was a little disappointed the storm was coming, but it’s okay. Knowing Michigan and her love for festivals, there will be another hot-air balloon festival very soon. 🙂

        1. Oh no! I know that must have been hard. I remember one time I went out to the lake when it was snowing and the sight was beautiful. I turned my camera on and couldn’t take any photos because I left my SD card at home. I was so disappointed. So I understand the feeling!
