Sunday Funday at BoxLunch
On Sunday, we went to Taylor, Michigan to attend the grand opening of BoxLunch. I received an invite to check out the store, which by the way is the first Detroit-area BoxLunch location!
If you’ve never heard of BoxLunch before, it’s a novelty store which sells pop culture-themed merchandise. Travis said the store reminded him of Spencer’s (only they don’t sell a lot of the adult humor stuff) and Hot Topic because both stores also sell pop culture products.
Here’s a list of some fun licensed merchandise I spotted:
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Friday the 13th
Game of Thrones
Rugrats (and other Nickelodeon gear)
BoxLunch sells something for the whole family. I even spotted some cute clothes for babies! They’re definitely going down on my Christmas list this year.
Get Some. Give Back.
“To fulfill its civic mission of “Get Some. Give Back”, BoxLunch will donate one meal* to Feeding America® for every $10 spent in-store or online. BoxLunch is proud to support national hunger-relief efforts as well as local efforts through Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks, including Forgotten Harvest, which will directly receive a percentage of the donations raised at the Southland Center BoxLunch store.”
Happy Grand Opening, BoxLunch!
The store was very busy and customers were buying cool products. There was quite a line when I got to the store. Also, to celebrate their grand opening, BoxLunch featured contests, games, giveaways, and even a DJ playing live music in the store! I was amazed because I’ve never seen a DJ playing music inside of a store before. It was pretty cool!

A Sweet Treat
After our visit to BoxLunch, we bought the kids frozen yogurt at Pink Berry. The toddlers got an original frozen yogurt and Travis and I shared a Tropical Mango Smoothie. How did we like our sweet treats? Well, to quote Zhen, it was “DELICIOUS!”
Oh, and in case you’re wondering where were the teens? The teens had an event planned with a friend so they stayed behind.
