7 Events Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Do you participate in any activities to help support Breast Cancer Awareness Month? 

There are so many great ways to support the cause. I found a few events going on in Detroit and Metro Detroit that may be of interest to you.


Support Our Girls: Knock Out Breast Cancer 5K and 10K!

What: This is a fun event that can be completed throughout the month of October. According to the event page, you can complete your race anytime in October. You can choose to do a 5K or a 10K. At least 15% of every registration will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

When: October 1st through the 31st

Where: You can choose the location of your course.

Cost: $17, includes medal, bib, and shipping

See Pink, Go Blue

What: Month-long fundraiser Ann Arbor businesses participate in to help raise money for the University of Michigan’s Breast Care Center. You can see the list of businesses HERE.

Pop Into Our 2017 Pink Pop-Ups

What: Throughout the month of October, Susan G. Komen® Greater Detroit will host several community events in the tri-county area.

When: October 1 – 31

Pink Party at Bar Louie

What: Bar Louie will host a special “Pink Party” featuring $3.50 signature martinis, $1.50 domestic beers, and a “Double Your Donation” offer.

The “Double Your Donation” gives guests the opportunity to receive a $10 Bar Louie “Hook Up” gift card when they donate $5 to Breast Cancer Charities of America. The gift card is redeemable for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

When: Thursday, October 12th

Where: All Bar Louie locations.

105.1 The Bounce Halloween Masquerade Cruise (benefiting Komen Greater Detroit)

What: 105. 1 The Bounce is having a Halloween Masquerade Cruise to benefit Komen Greater Detroit. A portion of the proceeds of the cruise tickets will be donated to the Karmanos Cancer Institute andn Susan G. Komen® Greater Detroit.

When: Friday, October 13th

Where: Aboard the Detroit Princess Riverboat

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walks

What: There are three Making Strides walks left: Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Mt. Clemens. The walks are 3 to 5-mile walks for “survivors and caregivers, men and women from all walks of life who are passionate about saving lives from breast cancer.”
