Happy Monday, friends! After having a nice, relaxing weekend, I am ready to get this week started. Today, I want to share with you some exciting news. Last week, I was invited to Chrysler’s Media Day to meet Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler, and FIAT, FCA – North America, and discuss the new Chrysler PacifiKids campaign and the Chrysler Pacifica “Field Trip” for families.
I was beyond thrilled to attend Chrysler’s Media Day in Metro Detroit. I am happy to share with you the inside scoop on what the Chrysler PacifiKids are up to and the details for the “Field Day” to win an all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica!
Meet the PacifiKids
First, I am sure some of you are asking, “Who are the PacifiKids?” Meet Harper (8), Izzy (10), and Miles (11)! The three adorable children are Chrylser’s new “product specialists” who were brought in to help families and other car buyers learn more about the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.
According to Tim Kuniskis, the PacifiKids were first introduced last May at a Chrysler and Dodge car show in California. And although the car show was about performance cars and not particularly a family type of event, the PacifiKids were a big hit. The kids worked the crowd, “and it was amazing! People were following them around. People who didn’t have kids were getting in the Pacifica and checking it out because these kids were so engaging and so much fun talking about why they love minivans!”
Why should Chrysler PacifiKids sell minivans?
Kuniskis believes kids are perfect for selling minivans because they have a great influence on what their parents buy. “Who’s better to talk about minivans than the ultimate end user? The kids!”, Kuniskis said during the interview. “Who sells minivans better than kids? Nobody. They love them. They know them.”
And he’s right! Kids do know minivans. In fact, my own children love minivans. My older son Elijah (16) thinks minivans are cool because they’re spacious and “you can relax easier in them.” While my toddler Zhen (3) loves the extra features minivans offer, such as a TV. From storing large grocery hauls to exceptional safety features, having a minivan is the greatest investment a family with children can make.
The Minivan Stigma
But minivans weren’t always seen as cool. Some people make jokes about families who own minivans. While others label minivans as being an unattractive vehicle. But Chrysler is not worried about the minivan stigma. Chrysler is proud of their 2017 Pacifica minivan, and they believe they are really good at minivans.
“It’s [the Pacifica] a minivan! We’re proud of the fact it’s a minivan. We’re really good at minivans. We’re not gonna say it’s not a minivan because people like minivans,” Kuniskis proudly said. “Guess what?…Kids love minivans! Kids have never heard about a minivan stigma. They love ’em! They’re great! They love driving in them. They love everything that a minivan can do for them.”
Minivans are a Great Tool for Families
If you have children, you need a minivan! Minivans are a great tool for families for many reasons. For example, minivans feature extra room and storage space. The automatic, sliding doors make it more convenient for getting in and out of the van. But not only that, minivans are safe! When you’re driving around your precious cargo (your kids), you want to know they are safe in your vehicle. And Chrysler believes their new 2017 Pacifica is the best tool for families!

“How do 500,000 people a year still say ‘minivans are the right purchase for me?’ We believe it’s because it’s the absolute best tool. It’s the best tool for a family to make their life easier…” Tim Kuniskis, Head of Passenger Car Brands – Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA – North America.
Chrysler PacifiKids Take Over a Dealership
And to help promote the best tool for families, Chrysler launched a new campaign. On Wednesday, September 14, 2016, the Chrysler brand’s PacifiKids took over a California car dealership. The Pacifkids ran the Victorville Motors car dealership for one day! Families who visited the dealership were in for a great surprise.
“We actually took over a dealership,” Kuniskis said. “We shutdown the dealership for two days and we had hidden cameras, 12 hidden cameras, and we had kids in there selling minivans to real people.” When the families visited Victorville Motor, they had no clue of the take over! They didn’t know kids– the PacifiKids– were going to sell them a new minivan!
Wow, right?! How do kids sell minivans? And what did the parents think of this when they walked into the dealership? That’s what I was thinking, too. I watched the PacifiKids video for myself, and I gotta say, what I saw was pretty cool!

How’d they do that?
Before the take over happened on September 14th, Victorville Motors was transformed into the Pacifikids car dealership. The dealership was made to look like the ultimate car dealership for kids. It was bright and colorful and very inviting to children. The walls were painted colorful colors, office desks featured toys, beanbag chairs replaced the standard waiting room chairs, and even a ball pit with a slide was featured at the car dealership. I mean, what’s an ultimate car dealership for kids without a ball pit and a slide, right?Check out @Chrysler #PacifiKids Dealership Takeover! #Pacifica Click To Tweet
Hidden cameras were placed throughout the dealership to capture the unsuspecting families’ reaction. As each family entered the car dealership, they were greeted by a PacifiKid receptionist. “Each family was given a hands-on walk-around of the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, entertaining both parents and kids with its category-leading features,” FCA US LLC. “The Chrysler brand’s hidden camera stunt was conducted in partnership with Mosaic. ”
What did the parents think?
Many families were pleasantly surprised at the takeover, most especially the children of the families. In the Chrysler PacifiKids videos, the children show great excitement as they walk around the kid-friendly car dealership. Parents are seen laughing and a little confused because they were not expecting kids to sell them cars.
As soon as a family walked into Victorville Motors, they are greeted by a PacifiKids receptionist. A PacifiKids salesperson then led the families into the new car dealership. Families received a “hands-on walk-around tour of the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica.” PacifiKids discussed features of the minivan, such as the stow-and-go seats and the cool, new vacuum. (I know I need one of those vacuums!) The PacifiKids also talked with the visiting children about why their family should purchase a new Pacifica.
Chrysler’s Field Trip Experience
And to add-on to the excitement of the PacifiKids dealership takeover, Chrysler is inviting families to take a “Field Trip” in an all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica. Families in Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York, can apply for a “Field Trip” to experience test driving the all-new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica for a week!
