Celebrate Design and Creativity with Detroit Design Festival’s Community Events

Hey, friends! If you didn’t already know, this is the last week of the Detroit Design Festival (DDF). Detroit Creative Corridor Center (DC3) kicked off their 7th annual citywide celebration of design and creativity on Friday, September 8, 2017.

This week, DC3 will host several exciting community events that you don’t want to miss! 

This is my first time attending DDF and I am really excited to attend a few of the events this week! Make sure you’re following me on Instagram and Twitter as I share my experience at DDF on my social media accounts.

Detroit Design Festival’s Community Events

Eastern Market After Dark

When: Thursday, September 28 – 7 to 11 P.M.

Where: Eastern Market

Eastern Market transforms into a creative district by night. More than 30 studios and galleries will be featured. Sheds 2, 3, 4, and 5 will be activated with interactive experiences, brand activations, designer spotlights, installations, and parties.

DDF Design Village

When: Friday, September 29 – 4 – 10 P.M.  &  Saturday, September 30 – 10 A.M. – 6 P.M.

Where: Ponyride
1401 Vermont Street
Detroit, MI 48216

Shop and discover Detroit’s most talented makers and designers. Featuring everything from apparel and accessories, to homewares and interiors, this pop-up marketplace is sure to please design practitioners, consumers and enthusiasts alike. Additional programming will include lectures, workshops, and design experiences.

*Ponyride will be offering tours of their space on September 30 from 12 – 4 P.M. on the hour. Visit Ponyride’s website HERE.

 

Youth Day

When: Saturday, September 30 – 10 A.M. – 4 P.M.

Where: Michigan Science Center
5020 John R. Street
Detroit, MI 48202

Join Detroit’s next generation of design stars at the Michigan Science Center for an afternoon of design education and exploration! You can read my blog post about DC3’s Youth Day HERE.

 

Light Up Livernois

When: Saturday, September 30 – 5 – 10 P.M.

Where: 19384 Livernois Avenue
Detroit, MI 48221

Livernois businesses and Detroit-based artists partner together to explore the various ways design can shape the future of Detroit’s Historic Avenue of Fashion. The experience will feature design through open studios, performances, a game of putt-putt designed by local designers, urban furniture installations, and more!
