African American Read-In
February 23 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm ESTFree
The Southfield Public Library (SPL) is hosting an African American Read-In in celebration of Black History Month. All ages are welcome to participate. You can come to listen to others read aloud and also read to the group. Readers are limited to 5 minutes or less of reading time.
HISTORY OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN READ-IN
According to SPL, the first African American Read-In began in 1990 by the Black Caucus of the National Council of Teachers of English. “The event spotlights the literary contributions made by African American Writers and ensures that literacy is a major focus of Black History Month.”
