Happy Friday, friends!

Are you ready for the weekend? It has been a very busy week for us so I am more than ready for the weekend. We have a few fun things planned for this weekend. I bought Black Panther on DVD the other day so we will definitely be watching it together as a family. Michala and I are also planning on doing a little thrifty shopping. I’m on the hunt for vintage skirts and unique art for our home. And of course, on Sunday is the BIG day: Flower Day at Eastern Market!

I am really looking forward to going to Flower Day because I have never been. I first found out about Flower Day in 2016 and I didn’t understand at the time that it was a big event. I thought it was just a themed day to encourage people to buy flowers. LOL! Looks like I was missing out on all of the fun! This year, I am determined to go to the 2018 event. I have prepared Travis and the kids for Sunday’s festivities. I hope the weather is nice and sunny out so we can fully enjoy the day.

If you’re looking for some fun things to do with the kids this weekend, I found a few events that you might like. Check them out!

Friday, May 18

The DIA is open today until 10 p.m. There’s plenty to do with the family, such as “Drawing in the Galleries”, making paper dolls at the drop-in workshop, and taking a guided tour of the DIA’s art collection. All events begin this evening at 6 P.M.

Take the little ones to Java Jungle for some fun on the indoor jungle gym. My kids went to the Java Jungle in Farmington Hills and they had a blast! There are three locations: Canton, Clinton Township, and Farmington Hills.

If you prefer to stay outdoors today because of this beautiful weather, then how about going on a bike ride at Belle Isle or one of the Metroparks? The Huron-Clinton Metroparks are hosting a “Get Out & Play Trail Challenge” from now until November 1, 2018. Registration fee is $25. Get all the details here.

Take the family out for a bike ride at Belle Isle or one of the Metroparks!

Saturday, May 19

Love baseball? Take the kids to see a baseball game at the Historic Fort Wayne in Detroit. Festivities begin at 10 A.M. for the Michigan-Ohio Cup Tournament.

If your kids love to read, then they may like the 11th Annual Chancellor’s Reading Carnival. Children will receive books, book bags, refreshments, prizes, and more. Get all of the details here.

I’ve been wanting to get an African print skirt for some time now so I’m looking forward to checking out the Rahyma Pop-Up Shop at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. This pop-up shop will be from 11 A.M. to 7 P.M. and it will feature a variety of African print blouses, dresses, jumpsuits, skirts, and more! Get your free ticket here.

Military & Veteran Families – Wins for Warriors Foundation is hosting a FREE event at the Punch Bowl Social in Detroit. Fun games such as bowling, ping pon, arcade games, and karaoke will be available. You have to register for a ticket if you want to go, though, so hurry before it’s too late!

Cranbrook Institute of Science will host a FREE event from 12 to 4 P.M. You can also take the kids to see Cranbrook’s newest exhibit Ancient Rome: Age of the Caesars. Get all the deets here!
