Happy Friday, friends! How did your work week go for you? Did you slay your weekly goals?

I had a busy week with writing articles and editing photographs from a few events I attended. This was also our first week of the Fall term for homeschool. I can’t believe summer is ending and it’s time to get back into the school routine. Did your kids start school already, too?

I’m sure you’ve heard about the recent Supreme Court Hearings of the Supreme Court Nominee Brett Kavanaugh. I’ve been keeping up with it this week, too. Elijah (18) is taking U.S. Government & Civics so for a writing assignment, I assigned a short essay on the hearings.

For the assignment, Elijah had to watch some of the live videos of the hearings and read a few articles about the process. Then he had to write a short essay on key points he learned. I think it was a great way for him to stay up-to-date with the current events and see how our government works.

Even if you’re not really into politics, reading a few articles and watching some of the hearings is important because the decision that is made for selecting a Supreme Court Justice is one that could have a great impact on our country.

“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.” – Frederick Douglas
