We made it! Friday is here and I am ready for the weekend. Are you? What are your weekend plans?

On Friday, we have plans to check out Cranbrook Institute of Science’s new dinosaur exhibit. I also have to reorganize my work table and do some homeschool planning so Saturday and Sunday I’ll probably stay home and work on that. This weather is back to being ridiculously cold so I really just want to stay home and keep warm!

I have a lot to share for today’s #FridayVibes. Here are a few things I found of interest from the week:

Dr. Sabrina Jackson and I at her Movie Night event in Detroit.

1. DR. SABRINA’S MOVIE NIGHT FOR WHAT MEN WANT

Last night, Travis and I attended Dr. Sabrina Jackson’s movie night event called “Movie Night with Dr. Sabrina”. It was our first time attending Dr. Sabrina’s quarterly movie series.

Dr. Sabrina is a family counselor, motivational speaker, and relationship expert. She is the host of “The Essentially Sabrina Show” on 910 AM nightly and she is a recurring guest host of the “People 911 with Dr. Sabrina” on FOX2 News Detroit.

Before viewing the new film What Men Want starring actress Taraji P. Henson (Empire, Hidden Figures), there was a one-hour relationship panel discussing the topic of “What Men Want”. The all-male panel shared their insights with guests and also answered questions from the women.

Stay tuned for my blog post on Monday because I’m going to write a post about our time at the event!

2. DANIELLE BROOKS’ NEW SONG “BLACK WOMAN” IS AMAZING!

Have you heard it yet? The Orange is the New Black actress dropped her first single and I love it so much! The song is co-written and produced by Anthony Ramos (She’s Gotta Have It) and Will Wells. In an interview with BuzzFeed, Danielle said of her powerful song:

“So, I wrote this with two of my friends and one of them asked me if I could talk about anything I wanted to without a filter, what would that be? And, for me, it was the experience of being a black woman. I decided to write this song, without any filters, of my journey as a black woman in America. ”

Danielle went on to say about “Black Woman” that she wants black women to feel empowered and on top of the world. Thank you, Danielle, for creating such a powerful song because it is truly inspiring!

3. CORY BOOKER & KAMALA HARRIS ARE RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT

Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey and Senator Kamala Harris of California both announced they are running for president. According to CNN, Senator Booker launched his campaign on the first day of Black History Month– February 1st. While Senator Kamala Harris announced her run for the presidency on January 21st on Good Morning America.

I actually like both senators so I will be following both of them to learn more about them. What do you think?

8. WORLD’S FIRST ALL-NATURAL COLD-FILTERED COCONUT WATER

Here’s a healthy drink you can add to your meal planning: TAJA Coconut just announced the launch of their non-GMO and sugar-free bottled coconut water.

TAJA’s patented cold-filtered three-part process extracts the coconut water while keeping all the nutrients intact by avoiding the application of harmful heat, air, or additives.

“Growing up in a tropical country I was lucky enough to experience the joyful taste of pure and fresh coconut water straight from the tree, but as the drink started to gain popularity in the U.S. I was disappointed to discover that none of the products I tasted came close the coconut water that I grew up loving” explained TAJA’s Founder Nilang Patel. “So I set out to fix this problem, and after a few years of research, investigation, and taste testing, I developed a technology that allows coconut water to remain exactly as nature intended—raw, clean, and pure.”

You can get TAJA online or at select Meijer stores in Detroit and the metro area.
