Hour Detroit’s Savor Food & Wine Week is Coming to the Detroit Zoo!

Hour Detroits Savor Food & Wine Week continues to add more flavors to savor! The weeklong culinary celebration will feature multiple events including the Savor Food & Wine FestivalCelebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair and Taste of the Town. While Taste of the Town will take place at various restaurants throughout the week – Aug. 6–12, 2018 – both the Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair (Aug. 9) and the Savor Food & Wine Festival (Aug.10–11) will inhabit the Detroit Zoo, where guests will have exclusive access to the zoo’s award-winning animal habitats.

Taste of the Town – a weeklong, prix fixe menu event taking place at some of Detroit’s best restaurants has added several top local restaurants to its roster, including

Café Cortina,

Cuisine Restaurant,

Eddie Merlot’s,

Dequindre Cut Freight Yard,

La Dolce Vita,

Nosh Pit Detroit,

Pop’s For Italian Cuisine,

Robusto’s Cigar Bar and Bistro,

The Villages Bier & Weingarten,

The Whitney and

Wolfgang Puck Steak.

The Celebrity Cruises’ Grand Red Affair – set for 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018. It is a high-end tasting event featuring top-flight red wines from a variety of the best local and national vineyards. Hosted at the Detroit Zoo’s Polk Penguin Conservation Center & Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, tickets for the event are $100 and include access to wine tastings, gourmet bites, live entertainment and valet.

More than 60 vendors will participate in the Savor Food & Wine Festival, set to take place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 10th and Saturday, August 11th. General admission tickets are $65 each day and include 12 beverage tastings, unlimited food samples, live entertainment and exclusive access to award-winning Detroit Zoo exhibits. Private tasting seminars, including a wine tasting seminar at 6 p.m., a whiskey tasting seminar at 7 p.m., and an absinthe tasting seminar at 8 p.m. will be held at the Ford Education Center. Tickets are $20 per seminar and must be purchased with a general admission ticket. Seating for each tasting is limited to 30 people.

Guests must be 21 or older to attend with valid I.D. A parking pass is required for all cars. Please visit the Detroit Zoo or detroitzoo.org to purchase in advance of the event.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Detroit Zoological Society and its mission to celebrate and save wildlife.
