Independence Day Weekend Events | Detroit & Metro Detroit

Happy Independence Day! There are SO many Independence Day weekend events and activities going on in Detroit and Metro Detroit for the next few days. I researched celebrations happening in the D and compiled quite a list for ya. You’re sure to find at least one event to celebrate the 4th from firework celebrations to enjoy a movie in the park. Some events are Independence Day themed, while a few are not. But I think all of the events I found will make for a fun way to celebrate the 4th! Detroit | Friday, June 30th

The Secret Life of Bees at New Center Park

Details: Family-friendly movie night at New Center Park.

Fee: FREE

Time: 8 – 10:30 P.M.

10-Year Anniversary Detroit Hustles Harder

Details: Celebrate Detroit Hustles Harder ten year anniversary! This is event is for ages 21+ and there is a fee for admission.

Time: 8 P.M. – 2 A.M.

Location: Marble Bar | 1501 Holden Street, Detroit

 

Open Mic: Kamelya Yousef

Details: Open mic night at The Bottom Line Coffee House. There is a suggested donation of $1. Signup at 6:30 P.M. and ends at 8 P.M.

Fee: $1 suggested donation

Time: 6:30 – 9:00 P.M.

A Taste of Everything Vendor and Small Business Expo

Details: A family-friendly event of small businesses and direct sales vendors at Eastern Market Shed 3.

Fee: $5 for adults; kids free

Time: 12 – 8 P.M.

Engineers Day

Details: Annual open house for Soo Locks Engineers Day celebrating the engineers who built the Soo Locks and the “men and women of past and present who maintain the Locks.”

Fee: FREE and open to the public

Time: 9 A.M. – 4 P.M.

Location: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District | 477 Michigan Avenue, Detroit

 

Corktown Strut

Details: Celebrate Independence day at Detroit’s annual music, art, and food festival in Corktown. This event is from June 26 to July 3. See website for complete listing of music lineup and other event details.

Fee: Ticket prices vary; No tickets needed for the food festival. See website for details.

Metro Detroit | Friday, June 30th

Lake St. Clair Metropark Fireworks

Details: Fun-filled afternoon for all ages. The celebration begins at 4 P.M. with many events scheduled for the afternoon. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Fee for the event is $35 for an annual pass ($21 for seniors) or $10 daily15 after 5 P.M. for one day.

Time: 4 – 11 P.M.

Hazel Park Raceway Fireworks

Details: Celebrate Independence Day at Hazel Park Raceway. The race starts at 6:20 P.M. and fireworks will commence after the last race when it’s dark.

Time: 6:30 P.M.

Location: Hazel Park Raceway | 1650 E. 10 Mile Road, Hazel Park

 

Salute to America at The Henry Ford

Details: Independence Day celebration at Greenfield Village. Musical performances by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band. Fireworks will be at the end of the night.

Fireworks Friday at Jimmy John’s Baseball Field 

Details: Enjoy the Utica Unicorns baseball game and the Independence Weekend Buffet. Fireworks will also be tonight.

Details: Brownies on the Lake, in St. Clair Shores, is hosting an Independence Day celebration. Enjoy listening to music and dancing with seven of the area’s best DJs.
