Hi, friends! October is right around the corner. Can you believe it?! I feel like the summer just flew right by us. Now the Fall season is here and you know it’s the Fall when you see all of your friends share on Instagram their favorite pumpkin spice foods and products. Am I right?
But October is not just part of pumpkin spice season. It is also known as “Pink October” because it is the month of Breast Cancer Awareness. Businesses, celebrities, organizations, and people across the nation “go pink” in the month of October to support spreading awareness for the disease.
In fact, businesses right here in Michigan are helping bring awareness to breast cancer.
Last night, I had the opportunity to learn more about one such initiative at a private fundraising event hosted by Pretzel Bell in Ann Arbor (A2).
See Pink Go Blue
The breast cancer awareness campaign is called See Pink Go Blue. It is a month-long fundraiser which many A2 businesses participate in to help raise money for the University of Michigan’s Breast Care Center.

Beginning in October, Ann Arbor’s U of M bar, Pretzel Bell, is leading the charge to help people, See Pink Go Blue during the month-long fundraiser! Their featured “See Pink” items are the “Bramble On” cocktail and turkey and avocado burger.
Meeting Dr. Jacqueline Jeruss and Jon Carlson
It was such an honor to meet Dr. Jaqueline Jeruss, director of the University of Michigan Breast Care Center and Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship, and Jon Carlson, Pretzel Bell owner and a University of Michigan alumnus. Dr. Jeruss’ passion for the Breast Care Center is inspiring.
Carlson is also very passionate about raising awareness for breast cancer and the center. His enthusiasm for See Pink Go Blue was very evident as he told me more people attended this year’s event in comparison to last year.
It just goes to show how successful the See Pink Go Blue campaign is and how much the A2 community want to support the UM Breast Care Center!
Help Save Lives with a Text Message
During the event, Carlson explained how the guests could send an automatic $10 donation via text message. He also said The Residence Marriot Inn and the Martin Family would match their donation and donations can be made three times a day.
Friends, you can support the UM Breast Care Center, too!
All you need is your cell phone! Simply text “SPGB” to 50555 to make an automatic $10 donation to the Breast Care Center.
