Veterans Day is coming up very soon– Saturday, November 11th to be exact– and if you’re a military family like mine, it is a very special occasion.
Travis served in the Army for 8.5 years and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He’s been out for 2 years now and we miss it, believe it or not. I’ve shared our story before, but if you’re new here, Travis was honorably and medically discharged from the Army because of a bad knee injury from a deployment.
What do we miss about the Army? A lot of things!
shopping at the commissary
extended time off for the holidays
the camaraderie with his co-workers and family members
the kids going to the military youth center (they had so much fun there!)
great sense of community
Aside from being an Army wife, my parents also served in the Army. My mom served 8 years and my dad served 23 years. He is a Vietnam combat veteran, as well.
My sister and brother-in-law served in the Air Force, while my two half-brothers served in the Army. As a matter of fact, one of my older half-brothers was just recently promoted to Sergeant Major. (Congratulations!)
