Keep Baby Warm This Winter with Wearable Blankets

Do you have a favorite type of blanket for your baby?

I’ve been putting Zephaniah (now 4.5 months old) in a wearable blanket when he sleeps at night. I love wearable blankets because they keep him warm and I don’t have to worry about Zephaniah pulling his blanket up over his face. In fact, I honestly believe I sleep so much better at night knowing he’s in his wearable blanket.

There are so many different kinds of wearable blankets made by different brands. The brands I have been using are Carter’s and HALO SleepSack Micro-Fleece Wearable Blanket. I love both brands because they keep Zephaniah warm at night.

With this ridiculous winter weather we’ve been having, the wearable blankets are a BIG win for us! In total, Zephaniah has seven wearable blankets for the winter. That’s just how much I love them!

1. You don’t have to worry about the blanket getting off of Baby during the night. Baby stays warm throughout the night.

2. Baby stays snug inside of the blanket at all times. Perfect for when picking Baby up and moving around in the house.

3. No fear of the blanket accidentally getting on Baby’s face. This is something I would always worry about and check for before I bought wearable blankets for my little ones.

4. Wearable blankets help keep Baby’s temperature at a comfortable level. You don’t have to worry about Baby being too hot or too cold.

5. No worries about loose blankets being in Baby’s bassinet or crib. Loose blankets can be a safety hazard for Baby.

HALO Micro-Fleece SleepSack

Our HALO Micro-Fleece SleepSack is actually Zechariah’s old baby blanket that I passed down to Zephaniah. It just warms my heart that I can pass down Zechariah’s baby clothes and toys to Zephaniah. It’s such a sweet way to create treasured memories of my little ones.

This just goes to show how wonderful the HALO SleepSack brand is because our micro-fleece SleepSack is over two-years-old now! I love the micro-fleece because it keeps Zephaniah warm at night. The zipper is upside down, zipping down to the bottom of the blanket. This makes it easier for me to quickly change his diaper without waking him in the middle of the night.

The micro-fleece SleepSack is sleeveless to reduce the chance of Baby overheating. I put a long sleeve Gerber® Onesie® Bodysuit on Zephaniah to keep his arms warm at night. If the weather isn’t in freezing temps, then I let Zephaniah wear a short-sleeved bodysuit with his HALO Micro-Fleece SleepSack.

This is a HALO SleepSack passed down to Zephaniah. It is about 2.5 years old and is in great condition! I love the HALO SleepSacks!

Carter’s Sleepbag

The Carter’s Sleepbag is very similar to the HALO SleepSack. I purchased two Carter’s Sleepbags for Zephaniah to wear at night— a cute puppy design and an ivory fleece sleepbag with a fluffy lamb design. Zephaniah looks so cute when he’s sleeping in his sleepbags!

Carter’s Sleepbags are a little lighter than the HALO SleepSack. The material of the blankets is also very soft just like the HALO SleepSack. I like to put Zephaniah in his Carter’s sleepbag when it’s not too cold outside.

Another feature I really love about the Carter’s Sleepbag is the long sleeves. I usually dress Zephaniah in a short-sleeved Gerber® Onesie® Bodysuit like this 15-piece pack and then zip him in his sleepbag. He sleeps very comfortably in his sleepbag, which also helps me have a good night’s rest, too!

The Carter’s Sleepbags come in a variety of cute designs for baby, like this one with safari animals. Unlike the HALO SleepSack, the zipper zips at the top of Baby’s blanket. But don’t worry, Mama. The Carter’s Sleepbag comes with a worry-free safety tab to keep Baby’s chin and neck safe.

I recommend buying the Carter’s Sleepbag one size up because they can run a little small and Baby can grow into it. But don’t get a size that is considerably larger than your baby. This may not be a safe option for your precious one.

This adorable Carter’s Sleepbag is very soft and keeps Zephaniah warm.
