My dad and Travis both have birthdays in July. Dad’s birthday is July 22 and Travis’ birthday is July 30. Dad lives in Georgia so I usually send him a birthday card and a gift. Sometimes he visits us in July and we celebrate his birthday with a home cookout or by going out to eat.
The week before Travis and I got married, we had a dual birthday party for Dad and Travis. You’ll never guess where we partied for the big guys? Chuck E. Cheese! LOL! Travis said he really wanted to go to Chuck E. Cheese because he had never been. My dad was pretty cool with the idea and even offered to pay for part of it.
At the time, we just had our two oldest children Elijah and Michala (who were 11 and 9 at the time) so they were very excited to celebrate Travis’ birthday at their favorite kid restaurant. We had so much fun that day and it was also a great way for Travis and me to celebrate our upcoming marriage. Just something lighthearted and fun for all.
This July, my dad will be 81! Travis is turning 34 (yes, I am slightly older than him). I have a few ideas in mind for birthday gifts, like getting Travis a book of crossword puzzles because he loves them so much and getting Dad a Negro League Detroit Star hat to add to his hat collection. I found some other great summer birthday gift ideas.
