The Best Birthday Advice

Earlier today, I was scrolling through my TL on Twitter and I came across an inspiring tweet from director and filmmaker Ava DuVernay. A fan tweeted to DuVernay a request for birthday advice she could give to them on their 37th birthday.

Here’s what she wrote:

“Start a note in your phone and every night type in 3 good things that happened that day. Anything. Big. Small. Silly. Things no one would notice or feel but you. Anything. I started doing this at around 37 or so. It’s a beautiful way to end the day. Happy Birthday.

I LOVED her birthday advice! It’s not my birthday, but I made note of DuVernay’s wise words so I can start practicing this, too. I think I’ll document my three daily good things in my personal journal. (I try to journal for 30 minutes early in the morning.)

As you may already know, Ava DuVernay is known for her films Selma, A Wrinkle in Time, Queen, and When They Us. And that’s just to name a few of her amazing works because her great accolades in the film and television industry are much more extensive!

I love following DuVernay on Twitter because she always gives inspiring advice, shares heartwarming stories, and raises awareness on social justice issues.

Her wise words from today are just one of many inspirational gems she tweets to her followers. Definitely share this one with your family and friends!
