A BIRTHDAY LETTER TO MY SON ON HIS 5TH BIRTHDAY

Happy 5th birthday, Zechariah!

I can’t believe you’re the BIG five now. I know you are super excited about turning five years old. You’ve been talking about it for weeks and now your special day is finally here!

I am so grateful to have you in my life and to be your mommy. When Daddy and I found out we were pregnant with you, we were over the moon.

And now it’s five years later and you’re a big boy!

“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”

Dr. Seuss

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT YOU

Zechariah, I love how curious you are to discover something new and take the time to learn about it.

One thing that you like to do is to figure out how things work. You like to put things together and try to fix things. I think you get that from your dad because he likes fixing things, too.

I love that you have a kind heart. You’re always trying to help your little brother with something, and you let him play games and toys with you. (Although you do have your moments and argue with your siblings. It’s okay. It’s normal.

This blog post is all about a birthday letter to my son on his 5th birthday!

I also share the cool diy Minecraft birthday decorations I made for him for his birthday.

I love it when you give me hugs, although you remind me, “Only one hug!” You’re not much of a hugger, but you do have a big heart full of love.

I love going on walks with you and taking you out to play at the playground.

And I love just spending time with you because I know these years of childhood are fleeting and soon you will no longer be little.

ALL OF THE THINGS YOU’RE INTO AT AGE FIVE

Minecraft is your absolute favorite video game! You started playing the game about two years ago, and last year, you really got into it.

You even watch YouTube videos to learn how to make your favorite structures like the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the PJ Masks Headquarters

And you’re an amazing Minecraft builder, too! I hope I said that right. Haha!

I’m not too savvy with Minecrafting. I’ve tried a few times to play the game with you and sometimes I get really confused.

But you wanna know what’s really cool?

When I ask you to help me out with the game, you always know what to do. Look at you, big guy, teaching your ol’ mom how to play a video game! 🙂

Something else you’re really into right now is the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. It all started after your big brother Elijah got Disney Plus for the family as a Christmas gift.

We started watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the mornings during breakfast and you’ve been hooked ever since!

You like to color in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse coloring books and draw Mickey’s clubhouse all by yourself. That’s why Daddy and I bought you a Duplo Lego Mickey Mouse Clubhouse set for your birthday.

And just as we thought, you love it so much!

A FEW OTHER THINGS YOU’RE INTO RIGHT NOW

  • PJ Masks (It’s your favorite cartoon. You even have a cool Catboy costume that you like to wear.)
  • Teen Titans Go
  • Making your own creations with Legos
  • Making crafts.
  • Coloring in coloring books with Zhen and Zephaniah
  • Playing at the playground (Belle Isle is one of your favorites!)
  • Getting ice cream in Detroit
  • Going to fun festivals in the city
  • Watching Minecraft videos on YouTube

YOUR FAVORITE FOODS AT AGE FIVE

  • Chocolate milk
  • Pizza
  • Ice cream
  • Nutri-Grain bars
  • Waffles (You love it when Daddy makes homemade waffles for breakfast!)
  • Corn on the cob
  • Cupcakes

Oh! And you REALLY love shopping at Target. It’s your favorite store and you always ask if we can go to Target to hang out in the toys and video games section.

BEING A BIG BROTHER…AGAIN!

I remember when I found out I was pregnant with you. I couldn’t believe I was going to be a mom of four children.

Five years later– look at us…we’re about to add a sixth baby to our family

It amazes me how excited you are to meet your baby sibling. You talk about it all of the time and tell me all of the fun things you want to do with the new baby.

“I can’t wait to play PJ Masks with the baby!” You excitedly told me this one day when I asked you what you are looking forward to most about the baby.

Of course, right now you are a little too young to understand that the baby won’t be able to play with your toys until she is a little older.

But I think it’s very sweet that you are already willing to share your toys and include your little sibling. I know you are going to be a GREAT big brother!

Happy 5th birthday! Sharing a sweet birthday letter to my son.

My dear, Zechariah, I hope you have a very happy birthday today! I am blessed to be your mommy and I try my hardest not to take my time with you for granted.

Life is a precious gift, and being your mom is one of the greatest gifts God has graciously given to me.

I pray I am the best mommy for you and raise you to follow your dreams and life purpose. You are exactly who you are meant to be and I am here to guide you on your journey.

I love you to the moon and back!

Love Mommy xoxo
