The testing will be done in a designated secure area. There will also be a medical tent where community members can receive various medical services.

Mike Duggan, the Mayor of Detroit, issued an official letter supporting Convoy of Hope Detroit encouraging citizens to participate in the event.

On supporting the Convoy of Hope Detroit event, Mayor Mike Duggan wrote in an official letter:

“Through the past 18 years, Convoy of Hope Detroit has brought a better quality of life to over 30,000 Detroiters in areas surrounding Osborn, Northwestern High Schools, Herman Gardens; for people attending the Superbowl and in 11 different locations around our city through an event called, “Lovefest”.

This year, with the help of Bishop Andrew Merritt and Straightgate International Church and associated networks, the Convoy of Hope/Detroit event will deliver over $1,000,000 in goods and services to the residents of Detroit. Convoy of Hope is currently working with many leaders in the community developing a plan that will deliver an additional $5,000,000 in goods and services to the residents of our city over the next 5 years.

We strongly support Convoy of Hope Detroit and encourage your participation on Saturday, September 22, 2018; 10am to 3:00pm at Bishop Park. On behalf of the citizen of Detroit, I want to wish everyone continued success in all your future endeavors.”
