Line 5: The Fight for the Great Lakes/Immiscible (film series)

July 18: 6-8 p.m.
Michigan Science Center, Toyota Engineering Theater

Panel Discussion: Liz Kirkwood (FLOW); Dan Stevens, Filmmaker, JoAnne Cook and
Moderated by: Moderator Diane Cheklich

This event will be a panel discussion about the Line 5 Pipeline, which transports oil and gas through the
Straits of Mackinac, the point where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. Line 5 was designed to last 50
years and is now 65-years-old.

Currently, it is deteriorating and vulnerable to damage from anchor drops
and strong currents. An oil spill from Line 5 would be catastrophic to the Great Lakes. This discussion will
explore what this possibility would mean for our state and our nation.
