July 2 @ 9:30 am - July 8 @ 5:30 pm EDT
ENTERTAIN NEAR YOU Presents
“Hello, Michigan, What’s Going On In Your Neighborhood!”
Corktown Experience is hosting a special exhibit at the Detroit Historical Museum, created in partnership with the Wayne State University Anthropology Museum. The Journey to Now tells the story of the mid-nineteenth century tenement known as the Workers’ Row House and the factory workers who lived there from the 1850s through the 1940s.
The exhibit will remain on display through Sunday, July 7. One of the oldest buildings in Detroit, the Workers’ Row House still stands at its original location on Sixth Street in Corktown. The exhibit features artifacts uncovered during archaeological digs at the site, as well as photos and documents.
The Journey to Now is a tribute to the factory workers who helped transform Detroit from an outpost into an industrial and automotive hub. Admission to the museum and exhibit is free of charge.
For a donation, Corktown Experience offers guided group tours of The Journey to Now exhibit, along with tours of the Workers’ Row House and historic Corktown.
