“Man. Ronnie made his transition today. I love you Rhino 🦏. You were an AMAZING brother, son, and father. It’s hard to believe. You were my best friend in middle school. We met cuz our last names are damn near the same and we’d always get seated next to one another. The first time I ever freestyled was with you and web. That was when I really fell in love with hip-hop. All those nights in the basement shooting pool. All those late night strolls doing things we shouldn’t have been doing. Later, you would always bring my Mom Mother’s Day gifts when I was out of town. I can feel you watching over me now and I know my Dad is happy to see you. I’ll never forget you. My next year is dedicated to you. I love you. I’m going to make you proud. I promise you that. Love, mike” – Mike Posner
Grammy-nominated Mike Posner’s third album A REAL GOOD KID, released in January, tells his story which deals heavily with love, loss and eventual acceptance. Much of the inspiration for this album was the passing of Mike’s own father as well as the passing of Swedish electronic musician and best friend Avicii. A number of tracks on the album – “Stuck In the Middle,” “How It’s Supposed To Be,” “Move On,” “One More Song” – find Mike coming to terms with these circumstances that real life sent his way. Mike’s recent unfortunate experiences along with the sudden passing of his childhood friend has led him to hold this Acoustic Show to benefit the daughters of Ronnie Nelson Posey II.
In a recently revealed video for “Move On,” Mike announced he would be setting out on a 9-month trek walking across America. The video received over 10 million combined views in the first week alone, while fans showed their support with nearly 200k combined shares, comments, and personal playlist adds. The walk kicked off April 15th in Asbury Park, NJ and will end in Venice Beach, CA. You can track Mike’s progress HERE and even join him!
