March 31 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT$20
The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD) is hosting a writing workshop on Sunday, March 31st at 2 P.M.
Admission is $20 ($10 for MOCAD Members). You can register for the event by emailing MOCAD at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Event Details: This clever writing workshop presents participants with a series of playful timed exercises designed to challenge the intellect and expand creative thought. Developed by Harry Mathews, the workshop employs various constrained writing techniques favored by the Oulipo, a French literary salon established in the 1960s made up of mathematicians, artists, writers, engineers, and poets.
Mathews is best known as an experimental fiction writer and a central figure to the New York School of Poetry. He contributed to the Paris Review for over fifty years and was the first American chosen for membership in the Oulipo. Fiction writer and art critic Lynn Crawford is a founding board member of MOCAD, a Kresge Literary Arts Fellow, and a 2016 Rauschenberg Writing Fellow. Crawford’s newest novel, Paula Regossy, will be published in Fall 2019 by Trinosophes, Detroit.
