If you haven’t seen Childish Gambino’s “This Is America”, then you need to watch it! I’m still processing Childish Gambino’s “This Is America” music video. I have watched the video at least five times now, and I am still so amazed at its brilliance. My take on the video is the central theme of the video is to show how we let distractions in society keep us from seeing the ultimate crisis our country is facing.

I’ll be honest – when I first watched “This Is America”, I was completely distracted and I didn’t even notice the scenes of chaos taking place behind Childish Gambino and the children dancing. For instance, did you see the white horse in the video? I didn’t catch that until I watched it for the fifth time! Wow! You got me good.

If you’re not familiar with Childish Gambino, then you may recognize the artist’s face. Actor Donald Glover performs under the musical stage name Childish Gambino, and yes, I was surprised. I am familiar with Donald Glover the actor, but I had no idea he was also a singer/rapper! “This Is America” was my introduction to Glover’s musical persona Childish Gambino.

Have you seen his new video yet? Writer Awesomely Luvvie wrote a great analysis on Childish Gambino’s video. She breaks it down into ten points and it really helped me better understand the song and the video. What are your thoughts on “This Is America”?

Nationwide 2018 Wacky Pet Names Winners Isabella Miss Worldwide Boo Boo and Pablo Purrcasso. (PRNewsfoto/Nationwide)

These wacky pet names are just too cute.

What’s the silliest pet name you’ve ever heard? I haven’t heard any silly pet names, but I do love when people give their pets a first and last name. It just seems so sophisticated.

Nationwide recently released their list of the “Top 10 Wackiest Pet Names of 2018”. The insurance company is the nation’s first and largest provider of pet health insurance, and each year the company recognizes the most clever and wacky pet names.

Isabella Miss Worldwide Boo Boo and Pablo Purcasso were dubbed the winners of the 2018 Wacky Pet Names. I’m really diggin’ Pablo Purcasso’s name. Both furbabies are super cute, too.

From Little Bunny Foo Foo (a Pharaoh Hound) to Edward Scissorpaws (an older grumpy little cat who enjoys occasionally talking trash to his owner’s friends), these pet names are sure to make you giggle. You can see photos of each animal and read their stories here.

Need a new show to binge-watch on Netflix?

I was up late last night and just randomly decided to watch a crime-based documentary. I noticed Netflix recommended the documentary DOPE so I decided to give it a try. I’m on episode three and I must say I’m a little hooked on the show.

DOPE is a docuseries which gives the viewer a glimpse of the drug crisis in America. The series documents law enforcement who are trying to bring down drug dealers; drug dealers and how they run their “business”; and the people who use drugs. This show is not suitable for children so if you watch it, make sure you have some quiet time to yourself to view the series.

Express now features extended sizes for in-store shopping!

It’s about time, though! I feel like a lot of retailers are jumping on the bandwagon of featuring more plus size fashion styles for women as if it’s some big trend. The thing is, though, there have always been curvy women in the world! We didn’t just appear all of a sudden.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not complaining about brands offering more fashion options for plus sizes. I am beyond thrilled brands are listening to women! It makes me so happy I can finally go to the store and find cool styles for my size. I’m also happy to see fashion stores like Express feature more in-store plus size options for women.

In a media release, Express said:

“While Express has offered extended sizing online for some time, the brand recognizes the lack of in-store shopping options available to customers and is on a journey to support more people by meeting their needs. Express is thrilled to provide customers the ability to shop its range with newly added sizes, in store for the first time, giving them options when it comes to fashion.”
