What’s good, friends? How did your week go?
My week has been a busy one with working from home and caring for a very sick Zhen. My six-year-old has the chicken pox and she has been miserable all week. So if you have any great home remedies for the pox, let me know!
Here are five highlights from the week for today’s #FridayVibes:

1. IS HAVING MORE CHILDREN A NEW BEAUTY SECRET?
That’s what I was thinking when I read People’s Magazine article about “The More Children a Woman Has, the More Slowly She Will Age”. I shared this story image on my IG Stories and all of my mama-friends-of-many-children DM’d me to share their excitement. LOL!
According to the article, researchers at Simon Fraser University conducted a research and discovered “the number of children a woman gives birth to can have an effect on the rate at which her body ages– slowing the process down.”
If this is true, then it looks like I’m going to age very slowly over the next few years. (I have five children if you didn’t know already!) You can read the article here if you would like to learn more.
2. THE LIPSTICK JOURNEY LAUNCHES IN ROCHESTER, MI
Last night, The Lipstick Journey had its official launch party at PAINT Nail Bar in Rochester, Michigan. The party featured desserts like cupcakes, lip-shaped cookies, macaroons, and flamingo cookies. Guests were pampered by makeup artists like Detroit-based Emily Jean Fonville and Emily Weideman.

5. RECOMMENDED ARTICLE READ ABOUT BLACK SKATING CULTURE IN DETROIT
I stumbled across a cool article on Metro Times. It’s written by writer Imani Mixon and she writes about “how adult nights at Detroit’s roller rinks are keeping Black skating culture alive.“
I remember when I used to visit my dad in Atlanta, I would sometimes go to the skating rink with my friends. I always loved watching the adults move because they looked like they were dancing on skates.
I haven’t had the chance to see Detroit-style skating yet, but it’s been on my list to go explore for some time now.
On the Black Skating Culture, Mixon writes:
“Putting on skates is a surrender to the environment and those around you. Your natural-born feet are no longer touching the ground, a set of four wheels fastened in their place. All of this makes the skating rink a safe, black space in a city and in a world where more and more of these cultural landmarks are disappearing.”
