This weekend, I will be at the Detroit Harvestfest for work, and I hope to check out a couple art events, like the 13th Annual Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival and 16813— Simone Bryant’s Solo Exhibition at Norwest Art Gallery.

Things to do in Detroit this weekend for October 6 - 8, 2023.

1. Michigan Taco Fiesta | $10 at the door

Date: Oct. 6 – 8

Time: Friday 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Saturday 11 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Sunday 12 p.m. – 7 p.m.

Place: Lakeside Mall – 14000 Lakeside Circle, Sterling Hgts.

Event Summary: Enjoy tacos from a food trucks, family-friendly activities, Lucha Libre Wrestling, Vendor Village featuring small businesses, and more. There will also be a Hot Pepper Contest and a Taco Eating Contest.

Active-duty military and veterans are free with their I.D., and children under age 3 are also free.


Detroit Harvestfest & Food Truck Rally | $5 at the gate

Date: Oct. 7 – 8

Time: 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. (both days)

Place: Dequindre Cut in Eastern Market

Event Summer: Hosted by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, the Harvestfest will feature over 50 food trucks, harvest activities, six music stages, and more. Costumes are welcome!


16813: A Solo Exhibition by Simone Bryant | Donations Accepted

Date: Oct. 7

Time: 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Place: Norwest Art Gallery – 19556 Grand River Ave., Detroit

Event Summary: Opening reception for Detroit artist Simone Bryant. Simone introduces a new body of figurative work through her solo debut exhibition with Norwest Gallery of Art.


Woodbridge Porch Concerts + Co-Hop Beer Tapping | Free

Date: Oct. 7

Time: Concerts 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. and after parties begin at 6 p.m.

Place: Woodbridge Neighborhood in Detroit

Event Summary: A neighborhood event which showcases musicians from the Woodbridge Neighborhood in Detroit. The Woodbridge Co-Hop Beer Tapping will also take place at Woodbridge Pub after the porch concerts.


13th Annual Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival

Date: Oct. 7

Time: 9 a.m. – late (some art events end after midnight; see official event schedule for details)

Event Summary: Now in its 13th year, the Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival highlights artists and their artwork in various locations throughout the city.

From home studios to front porches, coffee shops, and art galleries, this neighborhood art festival sounds like it’s an experience like no other!
