Happy Monday, friends! Join me for today’s Weekend Recap. 🙂 Just my way of sharing moments of joy with you. In today’s weekend recap I’m talking about my weekend spent focusing on creativity, binge-watching Power Book IV: Force (my guilty pleasure is watching crime dramas), some Halloween fun, and a day of REST! How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun or relaxing for yourself? My weekend was mostly relaxing, with Saturday being the busiest day for me.

FRIDAY: AN EVENING OF CREATIVITY AND GOOD PIZZA

Friday evening, I enjoyed some time doing creative writing and editing this some old blog posts on this blog. I also ordered myself a Green Lantern pepperoni pizza.

With my favorite fall candle burning, I enjoyed eating my pizza while immersed in my creative zone. It was the best feeling!

Every Friday we order Little Caesar’s Pizza for the kids. We call it “Pizza Friday”, and the only reason why we have Pizza Friday every Friday is because LC Pizza isn’t expensive! 😉

But me personally, I don’t like Little Caesar’s Pizza. (Sorry if that’s blasphemous to say as a transplant Michigander! Lol!) My favorite Michigan-based pizzas are Green Lantern, Michigan & Trumbull, and Supino Pizzeria.

SATURDAY: HALLOWEEN FUN AT BEACON PARK

On Saturday, we took the kids to a Halloween event. We had planned on stopping by the farmers market before heading to the trick or treat event, but we didn’t make it in time for the market. It took me forever to get my costume and makeup ready!

The kids had a fun time, except for Zechariah who started to feel a little queasy. He felt much better the next day, though!

When planning my DIY Halloween costume, I did not take into consideration how long it would take me to do my face makeup and piece together each costume piece.

Plus, I had to help Zhen with her Sally Halloween makeup, too.

Now I know when we go out trick or treating on Halloween, I need to prepare to get ready a few hours before we head out in the neighborhood.

Travis’ Bob Ross Halloween costume is always a big favorite. People get a kick out of seeing him dressed as Bob Ross!

Unfortunately, the event we had planned to go to was rescheduled to Sunday. I found out about it AFTER we already had our costumes and makeup on!

So not to waste our cool costumes, we just went downtown to hang out at Beacon Park.

The kids played a couple of outdoor games at the city park, and we enjoyed our apple cider and cider donuts from Blake’s (one of the best Michigan places to get cider and donuts).

SUNDAY: BINGE-WATCHING POWER BOOK IV AND ENJOYING A DAY OF REST

I didn’t want to get dressed up in costume again for the rescheduled Halloween event. I was exhausted and desperately needed a day of rest! So did Travis and the kids.

We have so much planned for this coming up weekend– two more Halloween events and Zhen’s birthday. And then next Tuesday is the actual day of Halloween! It’s going to be another busy week ahead, so taking Sunday to rest as a family was for the best.

For our rest day, I got to sleep in, lounge around in my soft, comfy yoga pants, sip on my Ginger Peach Tea, and catch up on my favorite crime drama.

I’ve been binge-watching the Power series on Starz and I’m currently on Power Book IV: Force (Tommy Egan’s story). It’s a wild show! My guilty pleasure is watching crime dramas. Not sure why, but I’m obsessed with them. That and watching K-Dramas.

Have you seen any of the Power series? So far, I’ve seen Power (James St. Patrick’s story), Power Book II: Ghost (Tariq’s story).

I still need to watch Power Book III: Raising Kanan. I accidentally skipped it and watched Power Book IV before Raising Kanan. It’s kind of confusing keeping up with the titles, isn’t it?!

Power Book IV: Force
Power Book IV: Force. I often find myself torn between rooting for Tommy and wanting him to get caught. He’s a likeable character, but he’s also done so many horrible things in the storyline!

Love the fall colors I see in my neighborhood.

I also did a little creative writing, listened to classic jazz music, took a walk in my neighborhood, and TOOK A NAP!

The kids enjoyed playing video games on their Nintendo Switch, binge-watching Bluey (everybody loves Bluey!), and played outside with their friends.

I’d say it was a good weekend, and I feel refreshed from resting all day on Sunday! Now, I’m ready for this busy week.

Hope you had a restful weekend, too, and you find small moments of joy! xoxo
